It’s difficult if you’re in the Grand Valley or Rifle or Glenwood to not notice the smoke and falling ash. With our daytime temps in the upper 90’s, it’s uncomfortable, but I cannot imagine what firefighters on the front lines are going through. The Pine Gulch fire has now scorched over 85 THOUSAND acres with 797 firefighters battling the hot, dry windy conditions, a reason it’s at only 7% containment. Then there’s the Grizzly Creek Fire along I-70 near Glenwood Springs. This one has burned over 25 thousand acres of some of the most beautiful parts of Colorado, narrowly missing Hanging Lake. Again hundreds of brave firefighters on this one and no containment at all.
