Life awaits no man. The clock keeps ticking, the pages of life keep turning, and we keep on living despite it.  Take for instance my next week. Little did I know back in the late 90’s into mid-2000’s when my ex-wife and I were having children, that the dates would align as they are about to starting this coming Monday.

This coming Monday, August 19th, my 14 year old son begins attending High School. Now, when I went to High School back in the early 80’s, being in the 9th grade meant you were the top dog of Middle School. Times have changed and now you are the low man on the totem pole at the High School. He is in the midst of his first HS football practices and we talk everyday about how those are going as he prepares for his first ever HS Football game.  I am beyond excited for him, and cant wait to see him play in his first game, and help him with his homework when he needs me (he will say that he won’t…for a while).

Then on Wednesday & Thursday, my 20 year old starts college again. I say again, because he started when he graduated HS 2 years ago, but changed his mind 2 weeks in and decided to work for a while. Fast forward a couple of years, he signed up all on his own, and is about to go through orientation and start classes in the Art Department. He is amazingly talented and I am so proud of him.

Then on Friday & Saturday, my 18 (soon to be 19) year old daughter starts college. I have 4 boys & 2 girls, and my oldest daughter graduated with her Masters last year, and has been married 2 years.  So this is my last girl, my baby, and I am driving 5 hours to help her move to her school & get ready to earn her degrees in Fashion Design & Business. It’s hard to believe. She is so smart, talented, and beautiful, and I can hardly wait to see all she will achieve there the next 4+years.

The pages are blank in each of their journeys. There will be a lot of great times, and some tough ones, and I get to be there, as their Dad, to go through the experiences with them all. And that is a responsibility I greatly look forward to.
