This past weekend, I took my daughter shopping. Wouldn’t seem like that’s too big of a deal right? Most Dad’s shop with their daughters, as have I, hundreds of times before. One big difference this time around.
This particular time, it was to pick out her high school graduation dress and shoes. And even though I knew coming in I thought it would be fun, and it was, it was more than that. My youngest daughter of 2, my baby girl, is all grown up.
She will graduate from High School this Saturday morning. She will then work her Summer job, then pack her things and head off to college to major in fashion design and business.
And when she came out of the dressing room, she said to me, “Dad, what do you think?” And I got emotional. My little girl is all grown up…and she’s leaving to start her own life. And tears welled up in my eyes. I was trying to stay in the moment.
But I couldn’t help but to think ahead and know…it just won’t quite be the same anymore. At the same time, she will always be my baby girl.
The pics: My baby girl the day after she was born 9/19/2000, then the pic when she came out of the dressing room this past Saturday, 5/18/2019. She’s THE BEST!!
