We here at 96.1 KSTAR debuted a brand new show on Friday Nights, called, appropriately, FRIDAY NIGHT FLANNEL. We play all the best metal, grunge, and alternative of the 90’s, featuring bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, and so many more. I listened to some of the show this past Friday night and I gotta tell you it kicked some major ass!!

But then, as I was listening, as a product of growing up as a teenager in the 80’s, I wondered, how the hell did we ever get to this? How did we go from the 80’s filled with lots and lots of hair and aqua net, makeup, lip gloss, spandex, leather, leopard skinned or wooly boots, and music singing mostly about partying, going wild, girls, and sex to the 90’s being filled with flannel, holey jeans, cut-off shorts, cons and black boots, black t-shirts under the flannel shirt and angry teen angst lyrics…all within like a couple weeks?

Well I think Kurt Cobain and “I Smell Teen Spirit” had something to do with it! So now, we have one ROCKIN’ Friday line up!! Kim Kelly’s Morning Mayhem from 5:00am-10:00am, Nate’s mid-day Nooner from 10:00am-3:00pm, and then over to me, Joe for “The Joe Show” 3:00pm-7:00pm, including Request Hour from 5:00-6:00! Then I hand things over to Maximus Rock and he rounds the night out with the 70’s at 7, the 80’s at 8, and now, the 90’s at 9 with FRIDAY NIGHT FLANNEL, so you can be with us all day and all of the night, right here at 96.1 KSTAR, LEGENDARY ROCK!
