Ric Ocasek the lead singer and founding member of The Cars passed away Sunday. At 4:30 a call came into emergency services from Rick’s estranged wife of 28 years, Paulina Porizkova. She reported that she found him unconscious and unresponsive in his bed. Paramedics pronounced Ocasek dead at the scene. No foul play is expected and right now it looks like natural causes, although a pending autopsy may come to a different conclusion. Ocasek along with buddy Benjamin Orr started The Cars in Boston in the mid 70’s. Their debut album was a hit, as were subsequent LP’s but they broke up in 1988. Benjamin Orr, co lead singer and bass player died in 2000 from pancreatic cancer. Ric Ocasek was 75.
