Lord I was born a ramblin’ man. I’m moving again. Moving is always interesting. Whether it’s a few doors down or a block away, or a mile away or several thousand miles away, moving always gives you a new perspective.
There is a freshness to it. Some people move because they have to. Others because they want to. This time for me, I am moving in with my 33 year old son, so this is a “I get to” move that I am excited about.
You always hope you get good neighbors, hope it’s quiet when you need it be, and that the neighbors won’t mind if you are a little noisy with a family/friends BBQ, or, if you are musicians like my son and I are, they won’t mind you jammin’ out from time to time.
This is move number 38 in my life, with tomorrow being #9 in the past 2 years, mostly living out of my car or suitcases never unpacked.
I have lived mostly in either Denver or Meeker, Colorado, but also in Long Island and Brooklyn, New York, Vero Beach, Florida, Wilmington, North Carolina, South Padre Island, Texas, and now, Grand Junction. There have been a lot of miles in cars to cover, lots of sleep nights with friends or people you don’t really know that were kind enough to open their homes for a night or two.
Every move brings new experiences, sights, and scenes that have helped me grow and make life more adventurous and exciting. There are times I have wished I could be like some people that live in the same neighborhood or house for 35 years. Sometimes I wish my theme song would be “The Song Remains The Same.” (Click here if you want to hear about it https://youtu.be/cNVTRyewbL8
But then again, sometimes, I’m glad that for me, my song is “Life Is A Highway” (Click here to hear about that side of me: https://youtu.be/U3sMjm9Eloo it says it well). So, I guess I’m a sojourner in a foreign land just passin’ through.
But for now, for how ever long God has me here, I am grateful to be living in Grand Junction, Colorado. It is a beautiful valley that I am getting to know, and through working at 96.1 KSTAR, I am meeting some great people that makes me hope my song remains the same for a long time to come.
