We all know that David Lee Roth was the original lead singer for Van Halen, followed by Sammy Hagar, but have you ever heard of Mitch Malloy? Back in 1996 for three days Van Halen hired Malloy and in rehearsals they gave him all compliments saying they loved him, giving him hugs and even kisses on each cheek. They told Malloy they were going to be presenters on the MTV Music Awards to promote the new Van Halen greatest hits package. So Mitch went back to his home in Nashville and the nigh of the awards show turned it on and saw Eddie, Alex and Michael Anthony walk out open stage with David Lee Roth. Dave was acting like he was back in Van Halen and that’s of course what the audience thought, so Malloy figured it was professional suicide for any singer to step in after that and he quit before he was even in Van Halen for a week. He was right of course as after he quit VH hired Gary Cherone from the band Extreme and they recorded Van Halen III which was a huge flop. Mitch Malloy these days is the lead singer for Great White.
