Christopher Cross (remember him? “Sailing:” “Ride Like The Wind”etc) has announced an all-star tour paying tribute bro The Beatles White Album. The new band also includes Todd Rundgren, Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees, Chicago’s Jason Scheff and Joe Molland from Badfinger. Since it was Paul McCartney who discovered Badfinger and wrote their biggest hit, “Come And Get It”, I guess it fits that this new band should have a guy from Badfinger. Plus that band recorded with both John Lennon and George Harrison. The shows will include some of the member’s biggest hits along with songs from The White Album. Tour starts September 2nd and runs through October 20th but more dates beyond that are expected to be announced. Although tour documentation says that this new tour is not affiliated or endorsed by the Beatles, several of the band members have strong connections to The Fab Four. For instance, I already mentioned that Paul McCartney discovered Badfinger, they were also the first band signed to The Beatles new Apple records label. Todd Rundgren has been in Ringo Starr’s All Star Band and something you may not know, Mickey Dolenz was in Abbey Road Studios with The Beatles when they recorded the Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band album. So Far the tour dates start Sept. 21st at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, ending October 20th at The Warner Theatre in Washington DC. All the dates are on the East Coast, I’ll keep you posted if they’re headed out West!
